The examination of friction materials represents a central point in the development of new, innovative products.

Requirements from diverse friction applications are reproduced by standardized testing methods. These methods are in constant development. Thus the selection and the advancement of materials are optimized. This is the only way to successfully fulfil the rising demands of our customers.

The Schaeffler Friction Products-departments test field and vehicle testing make their contribution, which becomes more and more important:

• conception and construction of new test rigs regarding the mechanics as well as the automation and data acquisition. All our test rigs are self-constructions.
• Fine-tuning and verification of testing methods in dialogue with the test departments of the customers
• Creating new test programs and interpreting the results achieved in co-operation with the R & D team
• Carrying out and co-ordinating vehicle tests with own vehicles, taxi-, bus- and commercial vehicle fleets in smaller field tests
• support of the customers with friction material tests
