Schaeffler South Africa
In 1998 Schaeffler South Africa, located at Port Elizabeth, started manufacturing of the clutch facings RCF I, a development of LuK. Thus South Africa became the first manufacturer of clutch facings within the LuK group.
These pressed to measure clutch facings consist of a compound material, that separates the physical characteristics from the tribological ones and can be taken over by different components. In many cases RCF I has been used as a problem solver. Consequently, nearly 100% of its total capacity of 3 mio facings are nowadays exported to OEMs in Europe.
To date Schaeffler South Africa, mainly a clutch manufacturer, employs 70 staff members in its facing sector.
